The following artwork is called L’équilibre perturbé and is a trompe l’oeil, or an optical illusion. From a distance, it resembles a pyramid. This symbolizes the military hierarchy, with the foot soldiers at the bottom who take the hits and at the top the military leaders, who emerge unscathed. This artwork is very fitting for a war in which young men were driven from the trenches by a simple whistle signal, facing certain death. A work to reflect on.
