In 2006, thirteen-year-old Bram Kimpe tragically lost his life at a dangerous spot near the N36. As a result, local residents urged for a safer solution. The outcome is a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the regional road. The design by EBS includes some curves, allowing cyclists to see oncoming traffic. With regard to geometry and design, the bridge is constructed from steel.
