The statue of King Albert I in Ronse was erected as a tribute to the king, who played an important role during World War I. Albert I was known as the "Soldier King" because of his leadership during the war and his symbolic value for Belgian independence and liberation. The monument commemorates not only the king himself but also the sacrifices made by the population and the military during this period.
