This stone cross stands near the bridge over the ravine and marks the spot where in 1808 a local resident, Onulphe Joseph Collard (aged 44), tragically died in a fall.
The spot, known as Puits des Vaux or Trou Collard , is approximately 30 meters deep. There is no documentary evidence that Joseph Collard fell into the pit itself . It is only mentioned that he suffered a fatal accident there – hence the nickname "Trou Collard" and the fact that a cross has been erected in his memory.
