The Koekelberg Basilica is the fifth largest church in the world, after the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro in Côte d'Ivoire, St. Peter's Church in Rome, St. Paul's Cathedral in London, and the Santa Maria dei Fiori Church in Florence.
Today, the basilica is primarily a place of prayer for peace. It is used for parish and national celebrations.
But the Koekelberg Basilica has much more to offer. It also has an important cultural function. It is a splendid Art Deco monument, there are two museums (the Black Sisters Museum and the Museum of Modern Religious Art), every year there are several exhibitions, and you can enjoy an extraordinary panorama of Brussels.
