The Sint-Bavohumaniora was founded in 1931 as the first Dutch-speaking secondary school for girls in Ghent. From the same initiative, the Sint-Bavobasisschool was established by the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity. Education was initially provided in Biezekapelstraat, later also at the Reep. They did this in the spirit of their founder Pieter-Jozef Triest. His message: Deus Caritas est. God is Love. The keywords Christian - Flemish - modern have guided the school in the changing social context from its founding to today.
