The Leuven abbeys - 20 km.

The bike ride starts and returns to the train station of Leuven, located to the east of the city. Drivers can pay to park in the underground parking garage beneath the station. One can also easily reach the Leuven train station by taking De Lijn.

It is a relatively flat bike ride with not too many elevation changes. Only towards the end, the climb of the Keizersberg (30 m higher) may pose a little challenge (see the elevation graph).

The bike ride first takes you past the Abdij van Park and around its fishing ponds, where you need to bike briefly on unpaved sections. Biking through the Leuven district of Kessel-Lo, you will reach the beautifully located Abdij van Vlierbeek, nestled in greenery.

At this point, you are halfway through the bike ride, and it’s possible to take a break or enjoy a drink at the brown café In den Rozenkrans, in the shade of the abbey tower. Then continue biking around the Provinciedomein van Kessel-Lo, the green lung of Leuven.

Then it's time to tackle the steep climb to the Abdij van Keizersberg. From this high position, you are rewarded with a beautiful view over the Leuven agglomeration. Finally, after descending from the Keizersberg, you arrive in the center of Leuven, starting with the abbey complex of the Sint-Geertrui abbey, followed by the Sint-Pieterskerk situated right next to the stately town hall of Leuven.
From there, you only need to bike along the Bontgenotenlaan, the straight Leuven shopping street, until you reach the Leuven station.

This 20 km bike ride can also be walked by an experienced hiker.
