SWEET WATER WALK - Have a taste from the love spring!

The sweet water walk starts in the forest reserve the small marshes. After we have covered our first 500 meters, there are several interesting sights. The Chapel of Our Lady of Steenbergen is a heritage gem of Oud-Heverlee. In the 16th century, a small chapel was hung on an old oak by devout hands. Those who prayed in a special way to Our Lady were cured of 'hot fever' (marsh fever). The place became a pilgrimage site. Even more remarkable is the Minne spring that can be found a few meters down. It is currently the only controlled spring that is deemed drinkable. Since time immemorial, water taken from the ground has been drunk and tapped at the Minne spring. After we have tasted the water from the Minne spring, we continue walking 200 meters along the sweet waters until we cross the road to enter the Heverlee forest along a hollow path. Once we have gone through the hollow path, we explore the Heverlee forest in a 1.5 km triangle, and after 1.5 km we return to the same point. We are then about 3 km in total. We walk back out of the Heverlee forest and after 3.5 km we return to the sweet waters. We walk around these sweet waters until we reach restaurant 'the Spanish roof' back in the small marshes where our endpoint is, where we started the walk and have done a total of 4.5 km. According to my experience, the walk is also good for children, as it is only 4.5 km which is relatively short, a lot of forest, there are points of interest such as the Minne spring and at the end of the walk there is a large playground at the sweet waters.
