We leave around the shipyard to the towpath and enjoy the view of the Scheldt and then go into nature with the Fort of Steendorp, Gelaagpark and Vuurkouter.

The Fort of Steendorp, formerly Fort Rupelmonde, is a brick fort built in the period 1883 with canals that are 8 meters deeper and 10 meters high ramparts. Now a nature reserve but with a guide you can visit the domain of the Fort. There is a hiking trail that runs completely around the imposing Fort. Fire coulter has flooded clay pits from the brick industry, there is still a fireplace (s) to see where the building is completely under water (personally we have not seen / found the fireplace (s). The Gelaagpark, or the 'wells' popularly known as its three ponds and willow birch forest. 'Layered', place where clay is mined. Parking in the Gelaagstraat opposite the blue fence of the shipyards. After the walk you can go up to the Scheldt for a terrace.
