Walk east of the village of Les Hayons, in the direction of Auby-sur-Semois where stands a remarkable rock: the Saut des Sorcières. A legend tells how the shepherd Colas Tcha Tcha taught witches to sit on their broom to jump from the top of the rock. Further in the valley of the Ruisseau des Aleines it is possible to visit the tip of the rock that bears his name. La Cornette is a hamlet a little further north than Les Hayons, at the confluence of two charming little rivers: the Ruisseau de Pont le Prêtre and the aforementioned Ruisseau des Aleines, the water from which will flow further south into the Semois.
DISTANCE
7.5 km.
TYPE OF ROAD The first 800 m and the last 3 km are a bitumined road. But the rest of the route follows an inextricable network of forest paths and sometimes steep rocky paths, which go up and down into the wooded valley of the Ruisseau des Aleines, a torrential river that flows into the Semois around the Saut des Sorcières.
In short: a walk for hikers who have a good eye and who have waterproof shoes during or after rainy weather. The steep trails are an insurmountable barrier for strollers or wheelchairs.
MARKUP
The majority of the route is (too) generously signposted; Trees sometimes hide the forest. It is useless to mention all the signs every time. The itinerary refers only when they are useful to follow the right route.
PARKING
In the immediate vicinity of the church covered largely with slate, somewhere in the main street. There is no real parking.
