The Schrieken is a nature reserve located in the south of Beerse and is approximately 13 ha in size. The area features wetlands, mixed deciduous forests, coniferous forests, and grasslands with hedgerows. Various rare plant and animal species can be found here. The complex of the Schrieken, Diepte, and Epelaar is European protected as part of the Natura 2000 area 'Forest and heathland areas east of Antwerp'.

Visbeek Valley-Kindernouw is a nature reserve near the Antwerp locality of Wechelderzande, municipality of Lille.

The area, which is more than 100 ha, is managed by Natuurpunt and is part of the Natura 2000 area Forest and heathland areas east of Antwerp.

The valley of the Visbeek is very varied with mugwort thickets, wet forests, peat bogs, heaths, and flower-rich grasslands. Kindermouw is a landscape that still exists in its original state with narrow plots and small landscape elements. It features low peat marshes and moist grasslands.

Here grow the broad-leaved orchid, water strawberry, small valerian, water clover, adder's tongue, marsh marigold, water violet, and blue button.

The animal world includes the adder. There are more than 40 species of dragonflies. From the butterflies, one can find the small kingfisher butterfly, brown oak page, green butterfly, and mottled skipper. The marsh grasshopper can also be found here.

The area is rich in birds such as kingfishers, black woodpeckers, little owls, lesser spotted woodpeckers, moorhen, white wagtails, snipe, and sandpipers.

The area is accessible for walkers.
