Borgloon, Groot-Loon, Manshovenbos

To begin, I suggest swapping the start and arrival points. It is more pleasant to undertake the tour in a clockwise direction.
This walk can easily be combined with a city stroll in Borgloon, the capital of Loon.
We start from the parking lot and walk to Graaf, the old city wall. We follow this all the way south of the city, past a vineyard. There we cross the St.-Truidersteenweg and take a path that runs parallel to the heavily trafficked road. After about 300 meters, the path diverges from Borgloon, and we immediately find ourselves in the orchards. Now we ascend to the highest point of our hike. Here stands the first artwork that we discover along our way: "Reading between the lines".
A little further along, we pass "Twijfelgrens." It is located in an area managed by Natuurpunt. In this area, there are piles of pebbles (flint) here and there. Throughout the day, we will see them often again, for example, as building material for churches and other buildings.
We now arrive in Groot-Loon. In the St.-Servatius Church, sound artist Paul Devens presents a new artwork: "Proximity Effect." The least one can say about it is that it is 'remarkable.' Continuing along the way, we see near Bommershoven on Alfonsstraat in the distance more works by Dré Wapenaar: "Tranendreef" (along the path to Hex Castle). There are four tree tents where one can spend the night. The tear-shaped sculptures hang on tall trunks and provide an alternative accommodation option for a night in Haspengouw.

A kilometer further, in Sassenbroek, we begin the return journey to Borgloon. Enjoy the beautiful views towards the Maas Valley.
