Routing Walk - most beautiful

I regularly do this walk just because it can start beautifully and well and from home by extending a bit from https://cafedeposthoorn.be/ Meerle a good catering industry.

And on the route https://www.hetsmokkelaartje.nl/ that is partly at the basis of the compilation of this route, which was opened on 25 November 2012 with the collaboration of https://www.staatsbosbeheer.nl/ https://www.natuurenbos.be/ https://www.natuurmonumenten.nl/

You will also find many walks from me in which parts or extensions of this walk are and then also start in Meerle and go along the Smuggler ..

Follow in the footsteps of the smugglers and walk the border between Belgium and the Netherlands on this forester's path over the Strijbeekse Heide in North Brabant. In August the heath turns purple, although a walk around the island in Goudberg has something magical every season.

Please note: this walk partly runs through Belgium, so don't forget your passport.

African plains and a magical island

Forest ranger Liza van Velzen: "During a walk on the Strijbeekse Heide it sometimes seems as if you are in Africa. Looking out over the plains with heather and flying pines you are suddenly far from home. Until you get on the trail in Belgium. Between the lanes, old maritime pines and deciduous trees you walk into a completely different landscape.

There used to be smuggling in this area. Walking along the smuggling route you will come across information signs and walk along the stream that makes the border visible. You experience history. If you come in August or September, you can also enjoy the flowering heather along the way.

The fen in the Goudberg is the real highlight for me. Walking on the mountain you look out over the water with an island in the middle. It is one of the last pieces of raised bog in the Netherlands. You can walk all the way around it. The silence, the atmosphere. It's magical."
