The long, fortified canal in Haacht was once built to stop German tanks. Today, it teems with aquatic life, and the abandoned bunkers serve as a permanent wintering ground for greater mouse-eared bats. Discover the natural beauty of the Antitankgracht and the adjacent Haachts Broek on a walk across little bridges and boardwalks. Boots will come in handy. Here and there, you’ll come across a herd of large grazers that create open spaces, much sought after by sun-seekers such as butterflies and other insects.
