Between Herk and Herk

The Herk, a tributary of the Demer, forms the guideline in the history of Herk-de-Stad and Sint-Lambrechts-Herk. The little stream is always somewhere nearby.
Please also note that you are in the humid Haspengouw; plenty of fruit along the way, but also lush meadows, fertile fields, and plenty of water. Afterwards, you can relax in a beautiful park or at the market of Herk-de-Stad. On the way, you will also meet unusual people: a saint, a tree nursery worker, an astronomer, and a lord of the manor burdened with a ghostly oak.

SAFETY
Relatively safe route. The main obstacle is the Hasselt-Diest road, which must be crossed multiple times.

Paved roads everywhere, except for about 1.5 km. 30% traffic-free.
