Haspengouw

The farms in Droog-Haspengouw have developed over the centuries
into large, impressive square courtyards. In this region, agricultural land often belonged to the nobility, commanderies, monasteries, or
bishops in the past. The square courtyards still have extensive
fields today, which has preserved the open character of the landscape. In many
square courtyards, agriculture is still actively practiced, while some have been
converted into residential houses or guest accommodations. Occasionally, there are gentle slopes
in the landscape, but once you find your rhythm, you can easily
ride uphill. At the top of the slopes, you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic
landscapes. Don’t go down too quickly and admire the hills of Haspengouw.
Also take some time to admire the blooming fields. The
poppy flowers are blooming there like never before, and the violet cornflower, which has
disappeared in many places in Flanders, has blooming opportunities here.

Paved roads are present everywhere except for some short sections. 60% traffic-free.
