Sporting A - Reigersbos Running Course (long)

An oasis of calm near the pulsating heart of the Antwerp port? The Reigersbos in Berendrecht proves that it's possible! On this piece of natural beauty, you have been able to stretch your legs on a brand new running track since the end of 2011. Are you running the long loop? Then you’ll be running a good stretch along the paved dike next to the canal dock. Definitely a nice view there with the Antwerp port in the background!
Between the bustling port of Antwerp and the A12 highway lies the Muisbroek area, a unique piece of nature where it is wonderfully quiet. The area, better known to locals as the Ekerse Putten, is famous for its two ponds, where many divers find joy. These were dug for water extraction for the steam sorting locomotives of the railways at that time, but are now home to many species of fish and waterfowl. Runners will find three adventurous running routes of varying lengths that wind around the ponds and are interconnected.
