On June 11, 1938, an earthquake occurred south of Zulzeke with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale. The most powerful earthquake in Belgium in the 20th century. Parking is possible along the wall of the Sint-Jan-in-de-Oliekerk cemetery. Frappé is the 'Bellemanshuisje', a refuge where the Belleman announced his news. The walk passes through Spijkersbos, Beiaardbos and along the Fonteinbos in a landscape with steep slopes (including the Kortekeer, known from cycling classics) and beautiful panoramas. Country roads, forest lanes and footpaths over fields and across meadows through swinging gates. Parking on the side road of Zulzekestraat (GPS house number 14) Zulzeke near the church and cross the street to start the walk.
