Grensleie Cycle Route

The Lys, in the south of the province, forms the border with France since the Treaty of Utrecht. The towpath along the Lys and the Ypres-Comines canal, which was never completed, are car-free. We cycle through beautiful stream valleys in the Gasthuisbossen. In the green and hilly landscape, we regularly pass by special viewpoints. The Basilica of Dadizele is visible from afar. The Wevelgem City Park can be traced back to a castle park. Not far from there flows the Lys, which we follow again upstream via the Menen barracks to the island of De Balokken where we can take a break on a blissful terrace.

This cycle path is integrated as a suggestion loop on the map of the cycle network of the Lys region. There will no longer be a separate leaflet with a map of the cycle route, but the signage will be retained.
