A stage with two faces: The first part leads from east to west over an elongated series of land dunes, with the Oudsberg as the highest dune of the Kempen. The second part takes you to the site of the former coal mine of Waterschei (Thorpark). From the top of the spoil tip, you have a view of almost the entire national park landscape. For those who wish, this "gateway to the national park" is a worthy conclusion to the trail. From here, there is a regular bus service to the train station in Genk.
