Within cycling distance of the Brussels city center lies a small paradise for walkers. This walk in Brussels will surely amaze you. Here you walk for 3 hours in greenery. And you will find forty species of birds and about ten amphibians. In the northwest, right on the border with Flanders, lies perhaps one of the best-kept secrets of the Brussels-Capital Region.
Here you walk straight into the Jette swamp. This area, together with the Ganshoren swamp, is one of the last remnants of the Molenbeek valley. Though the land was divided in the late 19th century by the arrival of a railway line between Brussels and Dendermonde. Since 1995, the swamp has rightly been a protected nature reserve.

That the city and the hustle and bustle are nearby will definitely be felt. It is a wonderfully beautiful oasis full of contradictions, as at the edge of the forest you hear cars roaring down the highway. In the distance, towers of glass and steel break the pastoral fantasy that the Ganshoren swamp represents. And yet, there are few places in Brussels where you can immerse yourself in nothingness.
