This day hike takes us to the Great Netewoud in the heart of the green Kempen. It is formed by various nature reserves along the Great Nete and its tributaries, situated between Balen, Geel, Meerhout, and Mol.
We enjoy rare swamp forests, unique shifting dunes, flower-rich grasslands, and beautiful heathland. Here and there we follow the meandering Nete, and we take a break at the atmospheric visitor center in a 17th-century watermill, where we also enjoy our own packed picnic.
We depart and arrive at the station of Geel, where we also get to know the “Merciful City.”
