A loop-shaped hike that starts at the parking lot of Eversambos in the district of Stavele (Alveringem).
Eversambos is a relatively newly established green area of 39 ha. In the forest-poor Westhoek, the diverse deciduous forest with its beautiful mountain forest paths is an enrichment. The name refers to the monastery that was destroyed during the French Revolution and was located near the IJzer.
The hike takes us to the IJzer, which we cross at the pedestrian bridge. We follow the left bank to the district of Elzendamme. The old village is situated on the road from Ypres to Veurne near the mouth of the Poperingevaart into the IJzer. It used to be an important docking place for ships. There, you can still see the stone bridge over the old arm of the IJzer. On the way back, we pass Villa Martha, a hunting pavilion that looks as if it has been taken from a storybook.
