This walk through the Kempen village of Wortel offers a harmonious combination of nature, heritage, and rural tranquility. The route leads along quiet roads and car-free paths, bordered by wide fields and characteristic tree lines. The landscape invites slowing down and leaves space for reflection.

Along the way, you pass various landmarks that testify to the rich history of the region. You will come across Gelmelslot, the beneficael house, and the Sacred Heart Chapel, each with its own story and architectural charm. A picnic bench in memory of Fons Stoffels serves as a modest tribute and provides a moment of rest.

Contemporary life is also visible. At De Bouwhoeve, you get an insight into the workings of an active dairy and poultry farm. Further along, the Bee Center De Raam offers educational information about the world of bees, while the Bolkse Beek subtly cuts through the landscape.

The route also reflects on the past: a monument for the fallen of the First World War and an information board about Halifax HR833 commemorate the impact of historical events on this region.
