The Bosbeek springs at the border of As and Genk. It forms the boundary between As and Opglabbeek, a district of Oudsbergen, over a distance of 2.5 km. The Bosbeek then flows through Opoeteren and Neeroeteren to eventually join the Meuse in Aldeneik (near Maaseik). The Bosbeek has a significant drop, making it particularly suitable for watermills.
Where the valley of the Kleine Beek joins the Bosbeek valley, we are guests in the heart of the Bosbeek valley nature reserve. Volunteers from the local Natuurpuntafdelingen As, Maasland-Noord, and Opglabbeek selflessly work to preserve this landscape with rare plants and animals, restore it where necessary, and manage it on a daily basis.
