Maurice Portray was born on March 4, 1896, in Nossegem. He earned a Doctorate in Medicine at VUB. He was a physician in Congo and ship's doctor for several years. Later, he settled in Nossegem in his parents' house. In 1946, he was elected mayor of Nossegem for the first time for a term of 24 years. The path runs on both sides of the old Kortenberg-Zaventem-Brussels road.
