This walking route through the Mechelen City Region takes you on a journey of discovery through the rich history and architecture of Leest. You start at junction 63, where you immediately feel the meaningful history of Leest, with its first mention in 1128 and the merger with Mechelen in 1975. Slowly you walk towards the Old Town Hall, a beautiful historic building that invites you to pause and reflect on the past. Further along, you discover the former town hall and the teacher's residence, now a cozy library. Don't forget to take a look at the farm on Kooteweg, a nice example of rural architecture. This easy 3.4-kilometer route is mostly car-free and unpaved, perfect for enjoying the surroundings in peace.
