Protected in a cauldron-like valley and surrounded by wooded slopes, Ronse presents itself in all its splendor. Every first Sunday after Pentecost, the Great Ommegang of Sint-Hermes takes place here, better known as the Fiertel. The Hermes route mostly follows the course of this centuries-old procession. We ride in a wide circle around the city, over steep climbs and descents, through forests and rural areas. Among other places, we pass over the Hotond, at 150 meters the highest hill in East Flanders.
