Hiking junction loop in the Druivenstreek (Overijse)

In 1865, Felix Sohie and his brothers built the first greenhouses in Hoeilaart. The starting signal of a period of prosperity in the region. The Sohies are closely followed by the Danhieux brothers in Overijse. The pioneer greenhouses became thriving family businesses. After a few years, thousands of greenhouses shine on the ridges of Brabant municipalities. The majestic greenhouse villas still bear witness to the prosperity that the "glass villages" brought.

Today, the Druivenstreek has about thirty professional winegrowers. Young producers combine traditional grape cultivation with new ideas and modern techniques. And there are also many enthusiastic hobbyists and growers in a secondary profession.

In "150 Sweet Summers", the wine-growing associations Overijse, Tervuren, Hoeilaart and Huldenberg and the Sterredruif association take you along the picturesque locations and hilly landscapes of the Druivenstreek. And... You immerse yourself in the history of table grapes. Because the grape region is of course known for its grapes.

For the Route Royale, artists from the region and other contemporary artists were invited to put their love for grapes into art.

This walking loop combines art, culture and nature.
