Across hop fields, forests, and meadows to brown pubs.

This leisure cycling route starts and ends in the hop town of Poperinge. We head towards Vleteren, where the famous West-Vleteren beer is brewed. Through hop fields, you will reach the St. Sixtus Abbey and OC de Vrede. Here, you can drink West-Vleteren as the only place (which is very uncomfortable) or buy it in packs of 6 in the small shop (not always in stock, and you never know which of the three they will sell that day). You continue your way through the St. Sixtus forests and arrive in the beer and arts village of Watou. Watou has a cozy market square with restaurants and cafes and boasts two breweries: Brewery Vaneecke (Hommelbier) and Brewery Sint Bernardus (St. Bernardus Abt). From there, you will ride along the French border and pass the cozy "Au Nouveau St-Eloi" and a little further "de Helleketel," the latter being halfway. From here, you briefly cross the French border and enter the beautiful hilly region. The route takes you back towards Poperinge through Westouter, Loker, and Klijte. In Loker, there are two charming eateries: Den Heksestoel and d’Hellekapelle (deviate a little from the route and drive 100 meters towards Dranouter). About 7 km from Poperinge, you will pass the cozy inn "Boerenhol," where you can also play folk games.
