GR 12 Amsterdam - Paris | Flanders

EN - The GR 12 connects Amsterdam via Brussels with Paris: three European capitals on one footpath of roughly 1,000 km. The Flemish part from Bergen op Zoom to Braine-le-Château is a surprisingly varied and green trail.

The main route circles Antwerp – although there is also a variant that crosses the city – and leads you through parks and nature reserves, as well as through the cosy streets of the typical Flemish cities of Lier and Mechelen. You reach Brussels along the banks of the river Zenne and the Willebroekse Vaart, passing the Atomium and the Heysel before arriving at the Grand Place. You exit the city through the residential areas of Uccle and soon find yourself back in the countryside. The Zenne valley and the Hallerbos forest then guide you to Braine-le-Château, the terminus of the Flemish section of the GR 12.
