This day hike uses the GR 561 Kempen-Maaspad.

The Hageven is one of the most valuable nature reserves in Flanders and is even known throughout Europe for its unique heath and moor vegetation. Numerous rare plants and animals find a suitable habitat here. It has therefore rightfully been included in the European Natura 2000 network of internationally important nature reserves. In the series of nature reserves
in Limburg, the Hageven holds an honorary place. It is an ideal nature reserve to enjoy the scenic diversity of North Limburg.
The Hageven, together with the Plateaux (NL), forms a cross-border nature reserve of 550 hectares, where about 30 Galloway cattle roam freely.
