Cycling north of Tournai

Departure at exit 72 at the church of Celles, direction exit 35. Turn right into Rue Cazerie in front of the church entrance and cross the Place Verte to the end of the street. Between a few trees is a crossfield of 1871 in the middle of the road interchange, at the right corner is the cemetery of Celles. You are now at junction 35. Turn left towards Hérinnes and exit 34. You immediately walk through an impressive open landscape. At exit 34, you continue straight towards exit 33.

Leave the unpaved road to the Château de la Cazerie and pass Le Maisami, a tavern, until exit 33. Drive straight past the beautiful brick chapel and nameplate of Molenbaix until you reach exit 32. On the left is the 18th century Ferme d'Ecavée. The farmhouse has been renovated, and there are now some luxurious hotel rooms and beautiful landscaped gardens.

Continue cycling until exit 31. Ignore the road to Molenbaix on the left and continue straight until exit 30. Here too, you pedal straight, towards exit 77. You pass the Notre Dame de la Salette chapel and a square farm and ignore the road to Mont-Saint-Aubert on the left. Turn right, leave a dirt road and at the next fork, at exit 77, turn left, towards exit 76. It now winds and undulates on a narrow paved road.

At exit 76, turn right onto exit 64. You pedal along the name sign of Hérinnes, ignore all the secondary roads and get a beautiful view of the Château d'en Haut (1778) on the right. At the end of the road you arrive at a T-junction. Right in front of you is Rulo Plastic Recycling. This company specializes in the collection and recycling of hard PVC. Turn left and immediately after the factory, turn right, direction Pecq. You now pass on a separate cycle path, which is separated from the road by hedges. At exit 64, you cycle right to exit 52 on the Scheldt. Turn left along the Scheldt until exit 75.

Three hundred meters further to the left is La Maison de Léaucourt. Continue straight onto exit 87. You don't always get to see the Scheldt, because the path you pedal on is a little lower. Dive under the next bridge and you have reached junction 87. Turn left, direction exit 82. You cycle away from the Scheldt and find yourself on another road. Follow it straight ahead and pass the sign for the Kain agglomeration. On the left is the Ferme de Barbissart (1728) with a bell tower.

White Houses Continue cycling to the T-junction. Turn left, direction center of Obigies. You now cycle along a bike path next to a wider concrete road to the intersection with Au Grand Salon café and a country chapel on the left. Turn right onto the Drève du Château d'Obigies. In front of the entrance of the castle you turn left with the road and after the next bend you pass the football fields of ASSA Obigies and the castle grounds until exit 82. Turn left onto exit 81. You pedal between separate buildings with a striking number of white houses, ignore all the side streets and climb up to exit 81. Turn right, direction exit 83. You get a beautiful view of Mont-Saint-Aubert and walk along some farms.

At exit 83, you continue straight, direction exit 88. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the hotel restaurant La Grignotière. On the right, it heads towards Mont-Saint-Aubert, located on the hill of the same name, which you may have seen for a while. Our visit goes straight. Cross the crossroads and continue along the Chemin du Vieux Comté. A sign points to the left towards Les Gîtes des Sources. They are located at La Cense des Sources, a gated farmhouse with a sturdy tower as its gateway.

At exit 88, you continue straight on towards exit 49. At the crossroads with a chapel on the right, you are at exit 49. Cross the intersection and continue cycling towards Ronse and exit 43. You pass in front of the nameplate of Mourcourt, enjoy a magnificent view and continue straight at exit 43, towards exit 45. You can go down a lot and at the end you will arrive at a T-junction. On the right is a farmhouse with an adjoining chapel. You pedal to the right. You cycle on the N48, then turn left into the first street and pedal along a wide concrete road in front of the church of Mourcourt to the intersection with exit 45.

Pass the café Au Relais du Vieux Comté and fry La Difference towards exit 47. You pass a large farmhouse with modern outbuildings across the street and on the motorway (A8-E429). Beyond the nameplate of Melles, you get beautiful views. At exit 47, you pedal further, towards exit 48. The rue de la Couture de Breuze is called the street. Follow it until the mandatory stop. Cross the N529 and continue cycling towards Havinnes. You pedal between soft buildings, ignore a street on the left and pedal further to a junction with junction 48. On the right, there is a dirt road. Cycle on the left, direction exit 69. Ignore the dirt road with the chapel on the left. The paved road turns into pebbles. Between the fields you can see the Cross of the Grey.

Civilization
Climb on it, winding and ignoring a paved road on the right, in a farm. Continue pedaling along a road in poor condition, which turns into pebbles. Once again in civilization, you arrive at a crossroads with junction 69. Cross it and continue cycling towards Quartes and exit 68. You meander along the partially fortified Ferme de Braffe and further along the Chapelle de la Sainte Famille to the N529. Follow it to the right until the first intersection. You are now at node 68.

Turn left onto exit 65. On the first sponge oven, with the picturesque church of Quartes and the Ferme de Lassus next to you opposite, turn left, direction Velaines. Dive under the highway, meander between some farms and continue cycling to exit 65. Turn right and 300 meters further, at exit 66, turn left, direction exit 63. At exit 63 at Velaines, turn right towards exit 58. On the left is the park with the former Oblate Convent, on the right the beautiful Ferme de la Brasserie Saint-Michel (18th and 19th centuries).

At the end of the park on the left is a beautiful chapel. Then you return to the open landscape. At the first fork you choose on the left and at the next, with the white chapel, on the right. Then you arrive at junction 58. Continue straight ahead and start again at junction 2, a hundred meters away. It now continues to exit 55.

At the junction with a dirt road on the right, turn left next to a farm and pass the Arc-Wattripont name sign. Continue cycling to the T-junction at exit 55. Turn left and a hundred meters further, at exit 54, continue straight towards exit 42. Don't worry about secondary roads and continue to follow the wide concrete road through the open landscape until you arrive at a mandatory stop after the Anseroeul nameplate. Carefully cross the route from Ronse to Tournai (N48) and continue cycling on the Chemin du Harby. You will pass the educational Harby Farm and the Celles nameplate and continue by bike until exit 42. Continue straight onto exit 41.

At the T-junction, follow the busiest road on the left to the Intermarché supermarket and exit 41. Turn right, direction exit 36, cross rue du Moulin. Then turn right into the first street and where it ends, you pedal further along a narrow church path. In a bend, you pass a chapel and continue pedaling past the sports fields and the House of the Entity on a square. Follow Rue du Paradis to the end, at exit 36. Turn right until exit 72.
