Duvel, the beer from which this route owes its name, is best stored until after the bike ride! With a bit of luck you can see draught horses near the Palm brewery, the pride of Brabant. Breendonk is known as the home of brewery Moortgat, from where the Duvels find their way to all corners of the globe. On the route you can admire two more mills: the Koevoetmolen and the Heidemolen
1. Appointment in Steenhuffel, at the Leireken (V) junction 61, the former station. You leave with the station on your right, direction junction 25 (follow to the end). Right brewery Palm. Just before you cross the Molenbeek, you will see Palm Castle Diepensteyn (1) on the left. With some luck you can see the Brabant draft horses of the Palm Brewery there. On the cross road you cycle right until the first intersection. Here it turns left, through the Drie Torenstraat. You cycle past castle Drietoren (1764) (2) and then reach junction 25. Cross the railway (towards junction 62) and follow the path on the right. Next to the railway at junction 62, follow junction 84 (follow to the end). Turn left with the road and continue cycling until a busier road. Cross it carefully and cycle further to the left, along the cycle path. Just behind Huis ten Halve, turn right into Pikstraat. You now cycle on a narrow asphalt road, through a quiet agricultural landscape. At the first intersection, turn left into Neeravert. You will pass a monument from the First World War and the Boske van Neeravert. On the T you are in the center of St.-Jozef Londerzeel. Follow Breendonkstraat to the right. At the end, turn right again into Stuikbergstraat. At the white café you follow the Minnestraat to the left until you reach the mini roundabout with one tree. Turn left and follow Sint-Jozefstraat to the end. Turn left, Veurstraat, on the cycle path. Now pay close attention to the signs to junction 84: follow the cycle path to café De Vijfhoek where you carefully cross the Veurstraat and then take the first street on the right, the Breendonck village. You now drive towards the center of Breendonk past Duvelbrouwerij Moortgat.
2. At junction 84, follow direction 85 (to the end). You turn left into the Beenhouwerstraat. At the end turn right on a wide red cycle path, separated from the roadway by trees. Ignore the Jan Hammeneckerstraat on the right and continue cycling until junction 85. Turn left towards 88. You can follow this to the end. You cycle through an open agricultural landscape with many pollard willows. On the T turn left and at the crossroads, with a dirt road right in front of you, turn right. You now cycle through the Hoge Dreef. Ignore Achterheide on the left and continue on a comfortable asphalt strip to a wider road. Turn right and 100 m further left into Kruisbroeken. You can already enjoy the quiet agricultural landscape. At the end, follow Patattenstraat to the right until you can turn left into the Koevoetmolen. You cycle past the former Koevoetmolen (3) and cross the Kleine Molenbeek. The street name changes to Sablon. Ignore the road on the right at the play forest and continue cycling through the Marselaerdreef. Turn left with the asphalt road. Ignore the road to Taverne Lomast on the left and turn right on the T. Cross the Grote Molenbeek and follow Kruisheide to the end. You are now at junction 88. Turn left, direction 24 (follow to the end). Just along the Lippelosteenweg and then left into the Broekstraat.
3. Behind the fence, you can see the chapel on the left in the forest, which belongs to Groenhof Castle (4). At an intersection you cycle straight on to a priority road. Cross it carefully and follow Herbodin on the other side, towards junction 24. On the left is the former Herbodinnemolen (5), although there is little sign of it from the street. Meander further through the landscape, at junction 24 you drive straight ahead, ignoring all side roads and diving under the railway. On the other side you are in the Beekstraat and at the fork you keep left. At the end, on the T, turn left and immediately right into the Eshagestraat. You keep cycling between meadows and fields. At the first fork, turn right into junction 64 to the end and immediately left into Meir. You cycle past the Munterhoeve and turn left on the T.
4. Follow direction 64 and turn right into Walrotstraat. At the end - on the T with the triangular square with one tree - turn left and 100 m further on the next T turn right. You are now following Construction. Ignore all side roads and continue cycling to the end of Bouw, at junction 64 and café De Grens follow junction 23. Right. Continue cycling straight through the Bouwdreef, direction 23. Ignore Heide on the right and cross the intersection with the Zwaluwstraat. Keep following Bouwdreef until you reach the Heidemolen (6) with tavern Molenhuis. Cycle into the street with pollard willows next to the mill house, towards the railway. Keep following the railway to the left until the level crossing at Malderen station. Our tour turns left here! Cross the intersection with Zwaluwstraat, past Estaminet De Blauwe Reiger and follow Boeksheide to the right at the Boeksheide junction. Immediately afterwards, turn left into Eikendreef. Cross the Vondelbeek, ignore the Achterdenkenweg on the left and continue cycling to tavern Eikenhof, then straight on to the Buggenhoutbos. Cycle into the forest and then take the first lane on the left (direction knpt 64). Don't worry about side paths and keep left at a Y-junction and cycle out of the forest. Now follow the Peisegemstraat straight ahead.
5. Just before the agglomeration sign of Merchtem/Peizegem, you cycle on the right onto a straight concrete road. At the end turn left and a little further, before an agglomeration sign of Merchtem/Peizegem, turn right. You go back into the fields, through a gently undulating landscape. You can enjoy a 360° panorama and orient yourself at an orientation table (7) next to the road. At the end of the road, turn right. You descend High John. On the left, ignore the Bussenstraat. After a bend, Hoge Jan turns into the Ravenstraat. At the next intersection, turn left onto Vinkoorstraat. Cross the Vondelbeek and follow on the T, the Neerveldstraat to the left. At the crossroads, choose the Kapelleweg diagonally to the right until the end. Now follow the Meerweg to the left. At the end turn right and then left, into Woodpecker. Cross the Vondelbeek again and continue cycling over Kemmeken. Ignore Ten Houte on the left and choose Leireken on the left at the crossroads. Now you follow the straight old railway bed, direction Steenhuffel (junctions 49 and 21 to the end). In Peizegem, the railway bed turns into a street, which only turns back into a cycle path after the village. At junction 21, follow junction 61 (to the end). Cross the Smisstraat, now you are back in Steenhuffel and continue cycling through the street Leireken. The street turns back into a cycle path and you follow that until you reach the starting point junction 61.
