1. Go to the quiet square of the church of Wanne (V). On the mini roundabout, an antique sign indicates the way to Stavelot. Past the Museum of Wanne, you leave the village by bike. As a warm-up, you get a 15% descent under the wheels and you can make some spectacular turns. Leave a road and pedal further, towards Hénumont. Don't worry about side roads and pedal through the forest and between meadows until you reach a T. Turn left. Ignore all secondary roads and cycle through Hénumont. You only notice this at the end of the agglomeration table. It continues hilly, with a beautiful view on the left. You pass the Stavelot nameplate and get a view of it further down the road. Ignore the road to Somagne on the left and continue by bike to the Stele Eddy Merckx (1). Choose the road for local traffic on the left, the steepest part of the infamous Côte du Stockeu of Liège-Bastogne-Liège. You can go down to Stavelot with a magnificent view of the city and the red abbey during the last part. If you want to visit the city, cross the bridge by bike. Our tour turns right in a sharp bend and you must immediately climb firmly by the path of the Castle. Ignore all secondary roads and continue cycling towards the Vieux Moulin de Lodomez. On the left you have a beautiful panorama for a long time, on the rocks on the right for a while. Then you will pass the sign of Vaulx-Richard and follow part of the tourist route Sommets de Lienne and Amblève. You pedal along the name sign of Lodomez and pass the Old Mill of Lodomez (now B&B). Continue between the meadows to Beaumont. At the fork, turn left, direction Bellevaux. Leave the road to Villers and cross the bridge over the motorway. Beyond the sign of the agglomeration of Malmédy, you can enjoy an impressive panorama. Cross the Amblève and pass in front of the Bellevaux agglomeration sign. On the T after turn left, direction Malmédy. Leave a street and pass in front of the Salle de la Jeunesse de Bellevaux. At the next junction turn left, direction Malmédy, and just before the listed church of Bellevaux of 1435 (2) turn right, direction Ronxhy. You immediately start a steep climb with some hairpin turns and a nice panorama on your left.
The Recht Viaduct
You pass the Ronxhy nameplate and ignore the secondary roads. On your right a lot of hedges, on the left mainly meadows. Turn right after the Hédomont agglomeration sign at the end of the road. Turn right again onto the T. Now you follow part of the Velo Tour Hohes Venn–Eifel, direction 167. At the fork, where it goes left towards Baugnez, choose right. You pass the end of the Hédomont agglomeration sign, ignore the secondary roads and pass in front of the Lamonriville nameplate until you reach an intersection with a cul-de-sac straight. Turn left, still towards the 167, and enjoy the panoramas. At a crossroads on the left and immediately right towards Pont, on a narrow paved road between meadows. Beyond the bridge agglomeration sign, the road becomes hollow. Then you get an impressive panorama with the imposing Recht viaduct on the E42 in the background. Cross the Amblève and take the second road on the right. Cross the N660 (Vielsalm–Recht) and cycle to Rue Saint-Donat. You pass the Saint-Donat chapel classified (1752) (3), ignore the secondary roads and pedal on the highway below. Continue straight until you can turn right towards Recht at a wooden sign, as well as the Eastern Townships cycling network, direction 16 You go into the forest and ignore the secondary roads. After a while, you go down, with a nice panorama. At the holiday home Zur Schmiede you come to the N659. Follow it to the right through the center of Recht, until you can turn left into a chapel with the road, towards Vielsalm. You pass the church of Recht and where the road to Vielsalm turns right, you pedal straight into Dichrod, with a beautiful panorama on the right. At the end, turn left and immediately right into Ober Meivenn, direction exit 165. When direction 165 turns left and the straight road is only allowed to foresters, you go straight into the forest. Ignore all secondary roads. When you finally get out, you will arrive at the busy N675. The Eastern Townships cycling network turns left here, our turn right.
Connecting room without bike path
Now you start a necessary connector. Without a bike path, you must continue 3 km to the junction with the Poteau 44 Museum. Turn left, direction Vielsalm, and another 3 km along the N675 to Petit-Thier. On the other side of the road there is a wide breakdown road, but it is not used as a cycle path. Just after the agglomeration sign, take the chemin de Wanne on the right, direction Mont-le-Soie. At the first intersection almost straight ahead and at the next fork, turn left (right towards gîte rural Maison Decret). Leave the village and at the junction with the Chemin de Grand-Halleux keep left, direction Mont-le-Soie. Ignore another road on the right and cross a crossroads, still in the direction of Mont-le-Soie and Grand-Halleux. At the next junction with a straight dirt road, you turn right with the asphalt. You climb through a forest and later through a clearing with the Cross of Mont-le-Soie. A little further you descend into a big bend after the European Centre of the Mont-le-Soie Horse (4).
Back in the forest, pass in front of a picnic area with a sign on Mon(t)-le-Soie and the removal of trees felled with horses. Continue cycling through the forest and enjoy the beautiful panorama when you go outside. At the crossroads with the Croix Pierre Giet, there is also an antique signpost. Turn right with the asphalt and go down towards Grand-Halleux. On the T, turn right until you reach Rue Capitaine Lekeux. Follow it on the right and take the road to Wanne just before the church on the right.
To the Wanne Coast
You have now been following the Côte de Wanne from Liège-Bastogne-Liège for a long time. After a frantic climb, the road splits into a house with a stone cross. On the right, by the rue du Sculpteur Vinçotte, choose after the Ecole Libre Saint-Laurent and the end of the sign of the agglomeration Grand Halleux. At the fork, turn left, direction Wanne, descending through a meadow landscape with beautiful views. The road becomes hollow. Leave the road to Tigeonville and cross the stream of Tigeonville, go up. Continue straight until T. Turn right towards Wanne. At the next fork, leave the summit of the Côte de Wanne. If you want to climb the Côte de Lanne completely, pedal left here and reach the summit after 500 m. Then continue straight until you reach the church of Wanne. The visit will then be shorter by 400 m. Our walk continues straight, passing in front of a covered barbecue area. On the quadrilateral and then with a field cross on the right, you get a beautiful panorama of Wanne on the left. Pedal straight on the narrow paved road along the Cross of Calvary and pass the Cross of Bairsou. At the end turn left and go up to the church of Wanne.
