Around Ingelmunster

In the center of Ingelmunster you can park at the Sint-Amandskerk (1739). Next to it is the castle domain 1 of the Van Honsebrouck brewery family. You will immediately see the Pasar sign that crowns this walking park as the most beautiful spot. With your back to the castle (1736) (V) you cross the street, between two apartment buildings to the Brigands hiking trail. Follow this earth path along the nature reserve Mandelhoek 2, chalets and villas to a traffic road. You come from the Beukendreef – where there are also some cycling routes – and cross. Straight ahead, past a residential area. In the first bend you cross, along with the Brigandspad between the trees, straight ahead towards fields and fields. Further on, this gravel road becomes an earthen agricultural road, sometimes quite muddy. At a white sign (path only for cyclists, walkers and riders) to the right, at the end to the left and at the end to the right, to an asphalt road at a tile company. Turn left into Doelstraat and straight ahead on T into Veldstraat. Just follow this asphalt road for a long time and ignore the Steenovenstraat and the Zwanestraat on the right. Under a high-voltage line you bend around large greenhouses to the next greenhouses. Just before a grassy patch, take a right turn, and follow the earth path straight on to a major road, with woods in the backdrop on the other side. Turn right on the bike path. At a roundabout at café-bistro Bina Canar on this Roeselarestraat you cross the road to Ingelmunster (3 km) and walk straight ahead towards Meulebeke. About 200 m further right into the Kleine Roeselarestraat, again in the field. After farm no. 28, follow the Bloso cycle path (green arrow) to the right. Follow this earth road and turn left on the T. Beyond a farm, the gravel path becomes a narrow asphalt road. On the next T turn right along with the cycle and bridle path. On the next T (at an industrial zone and company Vergro) turn right. On a T, 200 m further (meanwhile meulebeke territory is behind you) take the Meersstraat on the right. Past the picturesque Walhoeve 3, a private road, restaurant 't Meershof and houses, turn left 200m before the main road at plastic greenhouses, to junction 22 of the Leiestreek cycle route. Continue straight ahead on the asphalt of this Dossestraat, until you reach residential areas on the edge of the center of Ingelmunster. On a T there turn right, to a bus shelter on a major road. Here you can possibly turn right back to your starting point. Cross, turn right and 10 m further left along a fence into a narrow path. Past some shops you come to a T, there to the left and a little further to the right, into the Lenteakkerstraat. Turn left past an old farm with street chapel into the Lampettenstraat and meander between fields and meadows with this asphalt road. On a T with chapel and electricity cabin turn right in the Krekelstraat, direction farms and greenhouses. At farm no. 80 turn right into an asphalt road, which becomes a narrow path past farm Ponderosa. Then on a T to the left, along with a blue bicycle arrow from Bloso. You bend through the fields, up to hoeve 'tWit Hof 4. Turn right there and turn along, past Aveve, until you reach a busy traffic road. Cross carefully and take the cycle path to the right, towards the centre. Cross a roundabout and walk straight ahead. At the parking lot of the Smatch turn left into the dead end Nijverheidsstraat. Past yet another feed company you reach the bank of the Roeselare-Ooigem canal. (The Brigandspad reappears and leads pedestrians across the canal via the Lys bridge). You turn right on the canal embankment. This gravel road (with picnic benches further on) eventually leads you past the castle domain to the Dorpsbrug. Here up the stairs and right and downhill to the church. Now you have earned a Castle beer or another regional beer!
