At the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk (V) of Wortegem, part of Wortegem-Petegem, there is ample parking space. You can also get there by public transport via bus 58 of De Lijn from oudenaarde station.

Here is the starting point of a walk through the vast Wortegem coulters. With your back to the church, turn left on Wortegemplein, cross the main road and walk into Vrouweneikstraat. On the right you immediately have an open landscape with fields and meadows. Ignore the Cijnskouter on the left, a brand new neighborhood, and walk a little further on the crossroads straight into the Cauborrestraat. Enjoy the peace and vastness of the coulters and to the right of the miles of distant views of the Scheldt valley.

At the crossroads you keep left and soon you will see Oudenaarde on the right at the end with the typical silhouette of the Sint-Walburgakerk. Ignore all side roads and turn left after a mile at the T-junction. Cross the stone road 300 m further and walk straight ahead in the Pareelstraat. After 400 m, take the sharp left and after another 300 m turn right, choose the Vlaamse Ardennenstraat. After 250 m, look left out onto a wide field road (at the Bouverlomennerspad pole).

The views remain wide and green and the village on the right in front of you is the quiet Ooike. The field road descends further to the Vrankaartbeek and to the left between the greenery you see a large white farm. At the end of the field road, turn left onto the asphalt. The white farm is the Hof De Ruijck, according to the sign dating from around 1750 and with a beautiful linden tree on the courtyard. The road bends to the left and takes you past another big farm. Walk 200 m further right into the Stoofstraat and after half a kilometer walk right again into the Vrankaartstraat. After about a kilometer you will arrive at the N494. Turn right here for several hundred meters along the fairly busy stone road. Caution is advised here!

After 500 m, walk left into the Kruishoutemseweg. On the right is a striking stone mill hull, the Boonzakmolen, formerly a grist and oil mill. Turn left just past the mill, first on an asphalt road and then on a wide field road. Once back on the single-lane concrete road, turn left. The road bends to the right, to the left and again to the right. Behind the meter-high hedge, the Hof te Walem is tucked away. The green paths and corners on the right along the Walembeek are, like several beautiful places here in the region, unfortunately 'forbidden access'. You can also see from several signs that you walk here, near Waregem, in the region of Flemish equestrian sports: many horses and ponies in the meadows, trotting tracks and various driving routes.

After 500 m, walk right into Boeregemstraat. Stay in the Boeregemstraat for more than a mile and ignore all side roads. Just past house number 5, ignore the Steenakkerstraat on the left and walk straight ahead into the Diepestraat (also sign 'Den Trekzak'). After a kilometer ignore the Processiestraat and 150 m further or 75 m before the stone road (sign) you walk on the right into a narrow tiled path. This road takes you past the sports fields of Sparta Wortegem back to the village church.
Don't forget to drink a real Wortegemsen in one of the cafes on the Wortegemplein, in this case a lemon gin.
