Park on the Markt van Meerhout (V) with its kiosk and Sint-Trudokerk for a varied walk through the rich nature. Along the way you will meet hikers, cyclists, riders and mountain bikers on a nice day off.
Stitch, with the Sint-Trudokerk ? in your back, across the market square and walk into the Gasthuisstraat. Turn left at the police station, past a chapel on your left and further right into Smissestraat past FC De Krabbers. You then cross the Nete. Asphalt becomes a pebble path and 50 m further on you turn left. Keep following that path and past the pine forest on your right take the left, towards cycle junction 54.
You now follow a part of the Grote Nete on the Zeeptepad, one of the slow roads in the municipality. At walking junction 96 you come to a Netebruggetje again. Turn left now, towards junction 91 along a fish pond ?. At the end of it an information board of the Kempense Landduinen hiking network and a building with a covered picnic area. Walk to the right behind the building, past the fish pond and at the end of it straight ahead, onto a narrow path. Meander along this mountain bike path and at the fork turn right (at MTB pole), downhill. Back at the top, at the next fork, turn right downhill again, to turn left 60 m further. You come to a clearing, walk to the left of the forest edge and immediately to the left again, along the wire fence. That's how you get to asphalt. Right. You come to a larger asphalt road. Cross carefully, walk to the right and after 50 m turn left into the Lijsterstraat and immediately right onto the GR at the Scherpenbergen-De Hutten area.

At a crossroads at junction 99, keep right. A wide sandy path takes you first to hiking junction 23, then to junction 21, De Hutten ? with his crucifix and sofa on a multi-jump. Turn right towards junction 38, turn left, then right again. You cross the Scherpenbergloop and further on again over the Grote Nete. At the next stream turn right, to hiking node 37. Cross the asphalt road, turn left and after 50 m turn right into Kruiskwacht until junction 37. At that small chapel turn left to junction 41 and continue over the Belseheideloop to junction 42. At that junction turn right, direction junction 46. Where a sign for node 46 points to the left, you keep walking straight ahead. For miles, in fact. First through forest area, then with pine forest on your left, meadows and grassland on the right with some groups of trees here and there. Continue to follow the wide dirt road along junctions 33, 32 to 3 There you turn right towards 30. This way you walk straight ahead into the Volmolenweg. Continue to follow towards junction 27, through the Lost Sheep Area. Carefully cross the N110, into Grees and over the asphalt until node 27 on the Greesloopstraat. Turn left into the Volsbergenbossen area until node 26. Then take it into the bend and at Het Oud Blok sharply right into the sandy path for riders and cyclists next to the farm. Via junction 20 to number 19. At the crossroads in the Volsbergen forests, follow straight ahead to junction 29. Once there, continue straight on into Brigandstraat, direction junction 74.

At the end of the Brigandsstraat you come to the St. Elisabeth Chapel ?. Choose right and immediately left, Lil on, still to junction 74. You can reach that if you turn left after 100 m on Lil, take the sandy path, away from the asphalt. At 74 you are again at a bend in the Grote Nete. Turn right to junction 7 The narrow path meanders along with the river to 't Geleeg with its old water mill ? and junction 7 Follow a quiet path, parallel to the N110, to junction 76. Then straight on to 77 and at the T-junction left-right to junction 78. This way you end up in the Molenstraat via back paths. There you walk to the left for a well-deserved terrace on the Markt.
