Description by the author

The gully of Zemst is a double loop of a total of 95km in counterclockwise direction around Zemst: https://www.routeyou.com/route/view/576864/fietsroute-de-kolk-van-zemst-95km.nl

This section is just the big loop of the gully, about 65km long. The starting point is taken at the church in Weerde (café 't Schoonzicht); the terminus is in Weerde, at Ons Huis (HQ KWB-Weerde -oog van de kolk-) on the Kostervoetweg in Weerde (100m from the Church).

This loop uses as many unpaved paths, footpaths and farm roads as possible that can create a loop around the eye of the gully. In dry weather, these are easy to cycle for the recreational cyclist. In wet weather, it is an ideal trail for mountain bikers who do not start murmuring when the trail goes over a deep puddle or (narrow) mud paths. This drawn (and controlled) loop does not shy away from the marshy parts (including the wet strips near the Bos van Aa, the Dorent, the Houtembos, the Bloso domain, ...). It can be very nasty during the wet periods of the year.

It is advisable to download this pump on your GPS/smartphone, or to enlarge and download certain parts of the route (see the 'Downloads' tab). Certain roads/paths are difficult to recognize in the neighborhood.

Received a comment from Cyclist Wesley( 08-2017):
From the Eglegem pond you can turn left over those thick tree stumps, which you follow in the same direction. After 50 meters you have to cross left and 50m further transversely right (This part is watered 20cm deep in winter - no problem for trail runners-). You notice a double row of spruce trees between which you can cycle northwards.
The castle owner has placed a gate on the side of the stone road, although this is a footpath. Therefore, take the side of the left field in time and go along that side to the Zemstbaan. For trail runners no problem, but for recreational cyclists it is a lot of steps. Or you have to drive all the way around along busy roads, and that is not the intention for this Kolk.
