Beautiful Belgian Tour: 175 km from Martelange to Marche-en-Famenne - Part 1

This month we present to you the second – and final – part of our tour through the province of Luxembourg. We left you in Martelange: This is where the starting signal for this BBB is given! We hope that you, like the Luxembourgers, have “a sense of anticipation,” because it’s not just around the corner and our route today, which ends in Marche, covers no less than 175 km.

Martelange doesn’t have much excitement to offer; the main interest of the village lies in its Luxembourgish gas stations. On the right side of the N4, they are all lined up in a straight row. We chose the one from the Aral brand as our starting point, not out of particular fondness for this oil company, but because it’s the first one on the left side when coming from Bastogne (and Brussels) via the N4, after the dangerous descent that has seen many accidents involving trucks. You should also know, to avoid unnecessary hassle, in case you're not exactly a cartographer by nature, that the general direction to be pursued in the first kilometers from Martelange is towards Saint-Hubert, via the winding and well-developed N848 that leads us along the Sûre to Fauvillers and its famous shady triangular square.
