This hike offers a highly diverse acquaintance with the hinterland of Leuven: First, you explore the Abbey of Vlierbeek and then the majestic Chartreuse Forest. After a walk through the suburbs of Holsbeek, you reach the marshy Winge Valley. The desolate beauty of the Bergbroek will surely charm you. Afterwards, you will successively climb the Molenberg and the Speelberg, and return to your starting point over the Kesselberg. These so-called witness mountains are remnants from the Tertiary period, when this region was still flooded by the sea. They form the boundary between the low and high parts of the
Province of Flemish Brabant.
