Kemmel

In the south of the province of West Flanders, there is a hardly 10 km long ridge running from east to west. The highest peak reaches 156 m, which is quite significant in a province where a large part does not rise above the 5 m contour line. Whether you are on the ridge or in an open valley, you can enjoy beautiful panoramas everywhere. Today, you will explore the area on both sides of the Douvebeek. You start at the beautiful Dreifläche of Kemmel and then walk towards Nieuwkerke on another ridge line, to enjoy the view of the Kemmelberg, which you will later have to process as dessert.
DEPARTURE POINT
You reach the Dreifläche of Kemmel by taking the A19 Kortrijk-Ieper at exit 4-Iepercentrum and heading towards Heuvelland on the N37. After 3 km at the large roundabout, take the N37 (third right) towards Heuvelland. Two roundabouts later, turn left onto the N336 towards Lille. Just before the railway crossing, turn right onto the N331. After 7 km, at the roundabout of Kemmel, turn right into the center. 200 m further, turn left into Polenlaan.

At the Dreifläche.

Low-traffic asphalt roads, agricultural earth paths, forest paths on the Kemmelberg, gravel in Warande.
ACCESSIBILITY
Impossible for strollers and wheelchairs; muddy strips beyond Nieuwkerke after rain. Steep slopes on the Kemmelberg.
