In wet weather, boots will come in handy. Strollers can be useful, provided there is a little carrying capacity. Don't forget the binoculars.

In a few places, you'll come across some beautiful sculptures by artist Henri Covemaeker.

The four sculptures that adorn Klerken are:

'The Blacksmith' located on Holleweg at the intersection of 'De Smisse' was unveiled in 1964.

'The Lace Maker' at the corner of Smissestraat - Jos Janssenstraat, was unveiled in 1970.

'The Sower' can be seen over Coppensplein (Smissestraat), the unveiling took place in 1966.

'The Seasonal Worker' or 'The Trimaar' (Stokstraat at the height of Jos Janssenstraat) was unveiled in 1968.

'Long Max' a German cannon that shelled the Westhoek from Klerken in 1915.

In addition to being a visual artist, Henri was also a poet. The path you partially walked was named after him. Together with Guido Bilcke and Mother Elisabeth, this creates an eternal memory of their existence in Klerken.
