The Pajottenland is located just southwest of Brussels and is similar to the Flemish Ardennes: cobbled roads, narrow streets, hilly farmland intersected by many streams. However, the climbs here are not as long as in the Flemish Ardennes, and generally not as steep. So it is pleasant cycling here, on very quiet roads (if you avoid the major thoroughfares).

The route starts at the church of Wambeek, not far from the E40 but just far enough to stay out of the busy area around the E40 highway and Ternat. You follow the route clockwise.
There is one stretch of cobblestones about 900 meters long on the route (the Rosweg between Lennik and Sint-Gertrudis-Pede), with a concrete water channel alongside. But you need to take into account that squares in villages are also paved with cobblestones.

The route also goes a little outside the Pajottenland to the valley of the Dender river, which you follow along the freely accessible asphalted bike path over the towpath between Grimminge and Zandbergen. Note: you reach this bike path by cycling behind the church of Grimminge along the narrow asphalt foot/bike path to the Dender.

The route is a mix of rolling roads, climbs that often feel like false flats, and sometimes a real ascent where the heavier climbs (the steeper ones up to 14%) are reserved for the second part of the route (around the valley of the Grote Molenbeek between Strijland and Gooik).

- climb from Wambeek to Goudveerdegem (not via the main cobbled road),
- Mierenberg,
- Kesterberg (to the dead-end top),
- Hekkelenberg,
- Steenhoutberg,
- Congoberg,
- Waterschapstraat (Bosberg),
- Bovenkassei (climb from Zandbergen to Nieuwenhove and no, not cobbled),
- Woestijn,
- Bergenbroek,
- Stuivenberg,
- Hunselberg.
