A piece of history: There is evidence that the lordship of Zussen was once owned by the church of Saint Lambert in Liège and would thus have been a Liège lordship. In Zussen, there was a foundation with a chapel dedicated to Saint Genevieve, simply a pilgrimage site, possibly even established before 1310.
The village is built on limestone. For centuries, this material was used as building material. During your walk, you will encounter a nice example of this, namely: The Saint Genevieve Church.
In addition, you can learn more about the history of cave mushrooms. In the past, they grew mushrooms in the marl caves, over time these were moved above ground. You can still find an underground mushroom farm in the marl caves of Zichen.
