Routing: Walking - beautiful
You start at the parking lot of the sports field 'Camerados', east of the Sint-Margaretakerk.
Start your walk heading west and pass the portal of the stately Margaretakerk (Kerkplein). You will arrive at the main road to the Netherlands, the Sint-Margrietestraat. Turn right (RA) here and walk towards the Dutch Oostburg. After 475m, take the first street on the right, the Bayensmolenstraat. This is the last side street of the Sint-Margrietestraat before the border. This concrete path winds along the border, and you walk further away from the village. You will still have a nice view of the Sint-Margarethakerk. After about 1.5 km of winding, you will reach a T-junction. To your left, you will see a border post, but turn right and stay in Belgium! After 200m, turn left onto the Vluchtelingenstraat (shortcut = RD Sint-Livinuspolder to the Molenkreek and then RA Molenkreekstraat). Follow this road (Vluchtelingenstraat) for 1 km until you reach the intersection with Goeleven. After the second bend, you can see in the distance the houses of the village Waterland-Oudeman. To the south, you see the water tower of Sint-Jan-in-Eremo as a landmark in the landscape. At the intersection of Vluchtelingenstraat and Goeleven, turn right (Goeleven) and walk westward. From here, you have a nice view of the Sint-Margarethakerk. At the end of Goeleven, turn left onto Sint-Livinuspolder. You will see the Molenkreek appearing to your right. Take the first street on the right, Molenkreekstraat, and walk around the Molenkreek. Follow this road to the end, and at a triangular intersection with an old bridge, turn right onto Sint-Margrietestraat. You are now walking back towards the village of Sint-Margriete. After house number 20, turn right and take the slow path: Kerkepad, next to house number 22 (for prams and wheelchairs: continue along Sint-Margrietestraat and turn right at the next intersection towards Oostburg). After 150 m at the sculpture of King Nobel, turn right towards the church). At the end of this path (Kerkepad), you will see the old cemetery on your left and a wastewater treatment plant on your right. You will arrive at the parking lot at your starting point.
