With this walk, you traverse the northeast of Zele. You walk through the neighborhoods of Zele-Dijk and Hansevelde-Huivelde. Along the way, you encounter signs for, among others, the Pieter Gorruspad, the Green Banks of Zele, and the Zeelse Boerenwegels. You make several loops along slow paths (Maesputwegel and Ruggenenwegel) and the Geitenwegel.

Route description

Start with your back to the restaurant, turn left and follow the road past the Castle of the Dijk. Take the first road on the left (Koperstraat), cross Europalaan (dangerous crossing), and continue on Koperstraat past the windmill. Then turn right into (Waterstraat). At the intersection (Vierwies), continue straight on Waterstraat, past the railway until the T-junction. Here you turn right (Buffelstraat), then the first field road on the left (Gauwdam-Gaendijk), at the intersection (Hermietstraat-Bakkerstraat) continue straight on Gauwdam until just past a gray metal gate. There, take the first field road left, follow it until the end of the road. At the T-intersection (Hansevelde), cross the road and continue left, past house number 31 into the field road (Maesputwegel), at the end of the path turn left (Langevelde), then after 250m take the field road on the left (Ruggenenwegel). At the end of the path, turn right (Huivelde), then the first street on the right (Bakkerstraat). Before the Garden Center Verheggen, take the path to the left at the sign "Zeelseboerenwegels". The road continues into Leirkensstraat, at the end of the street turn left (Rinkhout), immediately left over the railway (Geitenwegel), at the end of the path turn left over the railway and then the first street on the right (Neereindestraat), cross the railway and at the intersection (Vierwies) turn right into Waterstraat. Follow the 2nd road on the left (Pieter Gorusstraat) until the roundabout, follow the traffic direction and take the 3rd exit (Pieter Gorusstraat), then at the end of the road turn right (Dijkstraat) to the starting point.
