The walk runs completely through the Nieuwenhove forest of Oostkamp, part of the Bulskampveld Landscape Park. The majestic forest lanes form the beautiful backdrop of this walk. A few years ago, the park surrounding Castle de Herten was purchased by Forest and Nature, and very recently the walking junctions in this area were expanded.

During the walk, you will first see the back of the castle and only later the front. A real recommendation for walkers, as the route is practically completely unpaved. A downside to this is that it can be quite muddy after rain, so waterproof hiking shoes are certainly not a luxury.

Start at Nieuwenhove hall, Lieven Gevaertplein 1 in Oostkamp.

Start to the right of the hall (not the playground!), follow the path on the left until the end - then go straight to the forest (cross the road). In the forest, turn right until the end (barrier and parking), then turn left along the narrow path, take the 2nd path on the left (the right is a farm), after a 90 ° bend turn right over the small bridge, continue until junction 52 → 53 → towards 40 but NOT over the bridge, keep straight past the wide crossroad until the end, turn right to junction 56 → 55 → towards 54 and over a narrow bridge take the 1st right until the intersection, again turn right until the end, turn right and immediately left (towards 50) follow the 1st left until Van Maerlantstraat on the right and back left along the path next to the school building; 1st path right and 1st left so you return to the start.
