A sturdy hike through a very diverse landscape of old, wooded land dunes where heather is given new opportunities. Along the Voswijer stream, you come to the canal to Beverlo, and return to your starting point via the edge of the forest and the edge of the heath area.

The red route is a sturdy hike through a very diverse landscape. You walk along old, wooded land dunes where heather is given new opportunities and discover a beautiful heathland: 'Kattenbosser Heide'. Via the Voswijer stream, you walk to the 'Canal of Beverlo', and along fields and meadows you eventually return to the pine forests and the starting place.

Kattenbos is a special piece of Lommel. The entire area is rich in pine forests that we are gradually allowing to evolve into deciduous forests. Centrally located in the area, you will find 'Kattenbosser Heide', one of the most beautiful pieces of heath in Bosland. Here, juniper bushes grow and a rare and mysterious bird breeds: the nightjar. A stone's throw from the farthest starting point stands the Leyssensmolen, a particularly beautiful corn mill from 1797 that was recently restored and can be visited for free every first and third Sunday of the month.

For children, there is, hidden among the trees, an adventurous play forest with play elements by willow artist Will Beckers. You can find this play area between junctions 146 and 147.
