This route is active during the summer months of 2021. Residents of the districts Zandhoven, Pulderbos, Pulle, Viersel, and Massenhoven sowed flowers in the spring that bloom throughout the summer and provide food for bees, butterflies, and insects. Zandhoven Natuurlijk mapped out several walking routes along the flowers and a number of interesting sustainable initiatives.
This bike ride connects all the municipalities and leads you past the main highlights of the walks.
We have listed them in order starting from the grain mill of Pulderbos, but you can start the bike route from any municipality!

Inspiration garden for those who wish to create a biodiverse garden.
Zandbeekstraat 24
Garden of today
At the border of Zandhoven and Pulderbos in Zandbeekstraat, a strip of wildflower meadow is being planted for the third consecutive year at number 24. From the road, you can see a large diversity of annual and biennial flowers against the Willeboerebeek at the back. A delightful banquet for bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and other insects. In 2020, together with the neighbors, a long wood edge was provided so that birds and small game can find shelter in the coming years. In a third phase, thoughtful planting of various trees and shrubs with edible fruits followed. It is wonderful to see what you can achieve when people work together!

BarmHart: ecological joint gardening
In the beautiful Boutersemdreef at the Bautersemhof in Zandhoven lies the BarmHart garden. It is a place entirely situated in greenery where people garden together. There is plenty of planting, weeding, and harvesting done together, and those without green fingers can get a lot of tips to get on their way to gardening. For those who do not have their own garden but still love to garden, the BarmHart garden is a delightful place! The practical knowledge and skills of gardening are applied here in a very ecological way.
